Q for football (soccer) players. Do football boots make much difference(amateur level)to how well you play?

I recently started playing with more experienced players than myself and just have my running shoes, haven't played football for quite a few years but I used to be pretty good....

Q for football (soccer) players. Do football boots make much difference(amateur level)to how well you play?
It depends on the weather conditions and if your playing in a league game or unsanctioned. If its raining or early in the morning boots are a very important piece of equitment
Reply:Are you asking if football boots make a difference to your performance as opposed to just plain shoes?

Hell yeah!

You need the grip that studs give you to stay on your feet, especially in muddy conditions. Legally in Wales you're not allowed to play football on grass without boots.

But if you're asking do the more expensive boots make a difference as opposed to the cheap ones:

Not enough to justify the rip-off prices. They are slightly lighter, and give you slightly better control. Some give you a better shot, depending on brand! But regular boots are just fine as far as I'm concerned.
Reply:Football boots enhance the players performance. They allow for better grip to the grass, speed with the lighter boots and also allow the player to bend, control and swerve the ball as they often have rubber skill enhancement pads on the sides of the boots.

There is obviously a reason why professionals where boots instead of running shoes.
Reply:i also play soccer with my canvas which doesnt have the grip that a soccer boot has because of its spikes/blades and they are much tighter which helps you to take a good shot and helps with greater accuracy.
Reply:its better to play football while wearing football boots as it helps you to

a) grip the ground better

b) curl the ball more easily

c) pass/shoot/cross more acurately
Reply:They make no difference at all to me. In fact I seem to play better in tennis shoes
Reply:Kinda, If they are a cheap pair they might infect your playing. I don't know.
