What football position should I play? RB or SS?

I'm 5'6 with out shoes 163 pounds. I'm a sophomore at high school and I played football RB.

but now i really wanna play Strong Safety. Do you guys think i can actually get to play strong safety too??

What football position should I play? RB or SS?
talk to your coach.

no, you are not too short to play safety. you just need to get stronger and hit harder. bob sanders is 5'8 and as you know, he's a beast
Reply:Hell if you can jump like Randy Moss then yes u can play Strong Saftey but if u cant go play runningback. If the reciver is taller than u he will prolly catch the ball w/otruble. no offnce
Reply:It depends...

To be a good Runningback you need

RB- speed, vision, toughness, ability to take big hits, footwork

To be a good Strong Safety you nedd

SS- sure tackler, good coverage, footwork, intelligence, pay attention always, ability to jump
Reply:you can try to play both, but at least at my school we only had two players play both ways. this is because coaches usualy like you to focus on one position or another.
Reply:you may be able 2 play both. its up to your coach. you may want 2 suggest that youd like to try ss. i wouldnt push it b.c coachs hate players who ask 2 play diff positions
Reply:Stick to RB, more fun and you're too short to play SS, sorry. Besides, even though i play DT when we do the Gauntlet in practice i like to run the ball just to truck stick lol
Reply:you should be able to go both ways in high school. if your good enough to get to play college ball then you will have to pick one or the other
Reply:depends on if you like hitting other players, or getting hit by other players. i would rather be the one doing the hitting.
Reply:SS so you can hurt other people instead of getting hurt yourself you will still get the ball you can get plenty of picks at safety

good luck
Reply:You can indeed. It might take a little time to get used to, but with practice you have a chance to play both ways. Most of the guys on my team play both ways because they are the better athletes on the team. Also, I have seen them and they are exhausted after a game so be sure you have the endurance to play both ways, otherwise stick to RB.
Reply:in highschool they always put the best athlete at running back(unless he has a good arm for qb)

so i would choose rb because you will get the ball more
