2005 cl final?

How did milan lose on pen shoot outs. In terms of saving pens they have got the best keeper in the world dida. I think pen shoot outs should be scrapped as football is a team sport. And penalty rebounds i dont think they should be allowed to go in, it should be a goal kick. Cos dida saved alonso's pen and then milan would have won it.

I support man u btw tell wat club u support plz

i'm expecting alot of iverpool fans but imagine if the shoe was on the other foot

2005 cl final?
Good questions. I am a Liverpool fan. YES we were lucky, but luck works both ways. Your comment about penalties is a bit ambiguous - you are allowed to follow a rebound in and score during normal play (as Liverpool did), but the laws of a penalty shoot-out are different. Once the ball is struck in a shoot-out the penalty is over and no penalties can be scored from re-bounds.

I agree that Dida is a very good goalkeeper, but a penalty shoot-out is as much a test of luck as skill.

My own solution would be to have a penalty shoot out if the match was drawn, but straight after 90 minutes. A winner of the shoot-out could be decided, and THEN extra time played. The losing team would go all-out to win the game in the extra-time, as they have nothing to lose. The team that had won the shoot-out could not just sit back and hang on because of the danger of losing a match they had eefctively already 'won'. The unfortunate player who missed a penalty would have a chance to redeem himself by winning the game back. If the game still ended in a draw, then the result of the shoot-out would come into consideration.

A set up along these lines would change the emphasis of the shoot-out - it would not provide a final decision - and take pressure off players.
Reply:penalty shoot outs should be ditched but as long as my team liverpool keep winning them i'm not to bothered.

dida is class at saving penalies but cant beat dudeks spagetti legs
Reply:i disagree with the pen rebound cos its in a real match time!agree with scrap pens, but not to go to a replay cos thats crap for the fans, feels as bad as a defeat!i would say next goal wins and ya you have to take a player off from each side every 5 mins
Reply:man u fans dry your ******* eyes and get a life...
Reply:same opinion
Reply:Well an alternative to pentaly shoot outs was used in the 80's in American League Soccer. The player would start on the 30 yard line and was allowed to shoot from anywhere in that area, hea was allowed to dribble the ball as close to the goal as he wished and the goalkeeper was allowed to move anywhere in the 30 yard area. Sadly it probably wouldn't be much easier to watch than penalties as everyone would be knackered at the end of 2 hours of playing time anyway. The Golden goal didn't help as teams played for that as opposed to playing for penalties, and the silver goal has had much the same effect, so I guess penalties are here to stay.

I support Ipswich Town, and before any canaries start chirping about it let me say this.

We beat the scum 3-1 !
Reply:Sounds like somebody is jealous of the 5 time European Champions. The play should've resulted in red card but it was just a penalty. Justice was done. Milan blew it. They came out in the second half thinking they were champions and it cost them. Liverpool deserved what they got. I'd rather an English team win anyway than the crap of Milan. Plus it was the best game I've ever seen especially since Milan lost. By the way Dida is not the best keeper in the world.

I support Arsenal so you got me beat on European titles
Reply:wot about reina in the FA CUP final shootout pens r good wen u win P.S. weve won it 5 times!!!!!
Reply:I support Liverpool but I hate pens. I had a blanket over my head during the CL pens. Got a bit braver for the FA Cup last year though!
Reply:What other way is there, not plausible to have a replay, with 60,000 plus fans having to make another trip abroad.
