I Play Basketball, But My School Will Prolly Ruin My Chances Of Ever Getting To Play....I Didnt Make The 8th Grade Team, Because My School Is Bias and picks the kids that's dads are high school football coaches and that are lawyers ...their are like at least 3 or 4 kids that do not need t o be on the team

Reply:you are tall considering you are only 13. but you may have hit puberty early and wont get much taller, in that case you will be an average height, not really "tall". Its not how tall you are, but how good you are. Remember, there are short guys that play in the NBA!!! The most important thing is that you are very skilled at the game, so practice alot! Even if your school is bias, they still want to win, you will play if you are good. You should tryout and hang in there, you'll get a chance sooner or later. If you dont, you will regret it, trust me I know from experience.

Reply:Yes you are tall but the real issue is basketball for you and how can you excel despite the actions of others. First you need to mentally adjust your thinking. You alone are responsible for what you can and can't do. You cannot expect people to always give you a fair chance and have to learn to think beyond limitations that might be set before you. I would say with the issue of getting practice and playing in a competitive environment can be addressed by perhaps signing up for a club team or league outside of school. If you cant afford to do that, then mow lawns, deliver papers or anything else to create a small cash flow for yourself. Maybe attend basketball camps as well. There are also things you can do on your own to improve your game. Look online and find instructions for proper shooting form and go out and shoot free throws and jumpers. Guys like Kobe and Nash will shoot hundreds of times a day (you could start a little less). Be commited to learning technique and skills. Finally, grab some buddies go down to the park and just play and have fun.


Just remember the road wasn't paved for every college and professional athlete. Many of them had to overcome great obstacles to meet their goals. Don't give up and don't blame others for things in your life. Great luck.
