I am probably the 3rd fastest kid in my class, and i want to be able to run faster, i have noticed i have gotten slower over the months. I used to be really good at football, still am but i just cant run as fast, there is a kid in my fast who is rele fast, but he doesnt even work out! he just plays videogames, and he can jump high, i am short, in 8th grade, 5ft. tall and a small shoe size, is there a way i can be as fast as this kid in my grade? If so it would be appreciated. I am also 14. so plz help if you can. Thanks
How do i run faster?
My first question is what distance do you want to run faster than your other kids in your class. The shorter the distance the more difficult it will be to become faster as some body types and just more able to burst intial speed.
There are drills which can help you go faster. There are two areas which one needs to increase to go faster. Leg turn over and stride length. Thus drills to develope leg turn over and develop stride length are what are necessary.
When I was trainning we called them ARIZONA DRILLS,
Here are some of the names
High Knees
Leg extensions
Tippy Toes
Bounds
Lunges or Mountain Climbers
Sky Jumps
Stick Men
Of course more then anything you need to run and work out.
Repeative Sprints will also help. 16x 55yard or8 x 100 with the same distance of recovery will aid you in your speed.
Some of the best quarter miler I know use to go out for cross country in the fall. The last 100 meter when the other racers would get tired they would be able keep their speed. There are more things,
If you are talk about short events you need to work on your reaction time. Again practice , Practice , and practice
but remember to have fun. Compete against yourself. As long as you keep improving then you are winning. That is the great thing about running.

Reply:well you got slower over the months because you didnt exercise as much as you used to, so i recommend you practice more by running more outside and drinking alot of milk. And its helps alot if you eat grains such as pasta or bread the day before you want to exercise.
Reply:Get skinny. Meanwhile get strong legs (mostly body-weight stuff). Also to develop true speed, find a very slight downhill or 50-150 meters, and run down it moving your legs as fast as possible. Don't worry about how long your stride is, just concentrate of your turnover. Repeat 5-10 times.
Reply:well you should eat healthy foods like vegetables and fruits or foods who are rich in vitamins and minerals. Eat foods who are good for body building. And exercise yourself especially your legs...
