Broken big toe.?

My 14 yr old broke his big toe Sept. 4 playing football. Went for xrays the next day, Dr. said it was chipped where you bend your big toe. I asked him if my son was out for season and he said 2 to 3 games and that college and pros play with this injury. Went back Sept. 11 and Dr. mentioned ligaments and prabably out for season. My son asked about last game and he said to come back for xrays and maybe tape it up and play. Went back on Sept 21 and again no. My son then asked about the championship game on Oct 6 and he said to come back Oct 5 and bring his shoe and he would be out of the boot. We are going back on Oct 2 hoping that he will let him play. What chance do you think he will be able to play in the championship game. Do you think the coach will allow him to play even if the Dr. says yes, being so close to being released. This is his 8th grade year and something that he has looked forward to and the last time he would play with his team mates and he is a really good player.

Broken big toe.?
you again???

damn just be patient, if he gets to play thats great if he doesnt... he's young!!.... plus i think ur doctor is just sh!tting with u....
Reply:I think your son will be just fine. The bad thing about broken phalanges is you can't do anything for them but the tradition "buddy-taping".

My advice, buddy tape the toe. "Tape the toe with the nearest toe." Ice the toe every night before bed for approximately 15 minutes, then allow the toe to rest.

Resting is the key to get an injury healed.

Hope this helped!
