about two years ago a man moved out of our rental property. he left 5 shoe boxes and a 8X12 box of baseball and a few football cards. they date anywhere from 1965 to the mid 1990's. i'm just wondering if they are worth anything because i know nothing about them.
How do i know what baseball cards are worth?
go to becketts online or buy the 2008 becketts baseball card book
Reply:Everyone is telling you to consult Beckett's guide. However that will only give you on idea of what they might be worth. First you need to learn how to determine the grade of the card. A valuable card in poor condition would only bring a small fraction of the price listed in the Beckett guide.
My suggestion is to lookup the cards in question on eBay and see what they are currently selling for. You can match the condition of the picture of the card in the eBay auction to the condition of your cards and get a good idea of what they are worth.
Reply:Get a becket or go to a store and ask. Be careful though, some card store owners will try and rip you off.
Reply:id try to look it up on the internet under (the players name) baseball cards.
Reply:I would try to avoid Beckett if you are not experienced with cards. The high "beckett value" is what a store would ask for them in beautiful condition. It seldom reflects what you could really sell them for.
If you go to ebay you can see what people are selling the same card for. It will usually have a picture as well so you know that you are comparing the same cards. Watch the card all the way until the end of the auction because most bids come in the last few minutes. There is also an option to see what listings that have ended sold for. Remember that condition is everything - make sure that you are comparing apples to apples.
Reply:If you go to your trading card store and pick up a Beckett's catalog it'll give you an idea of what your cards may be worth.
Reply:Get a Beckett baseball card book. They have a lot of card prices in it from back then.
